VA-Certified Community Provider

Livingston Audiologists are certified in-network VA providers and may provide services to those veterans who meet eligibility criteria under the MISSION Act of 2018. You may be eligible for hearing aids and hearing aid services!  All you have to do is tell your local VA doctor (your Primary Care Physician) that you’d like to get your hearing aids and service at the Livingston Hearing Aid Center nearest you!

Eligibility Criteria

Under the VA’s MISSION Act, there are six eligibility criteria to receive health care in your community. Meeting any one of these criteria means that you’re eligible to receive care either through the VA or a community provider in the VA’s network.

Below are the two most common eligibility criteria met by Veterans who visit Livingston Hearing Aid Center.

VA Medical Facility

Average drive time to a specific VA medical facility.
30-minute average drive time for primary care, mental health, and non-institutional extended care services (including adult day health care). 60-minute average drive time for specialty care

Appointment at VA Medical Facility

Appointment wait time at a specific VA medical facility
20 days for primary care, mental health care, and non-institutional extended care services, unless the Veteran agrees to a later date in consultation with their VA health care provider. 28 days for specialty care from the date of request, unless the Veteran agrees to a later date in consultation with their VA health care provider.

Eligible Veterans can use VA health care services nationwide. Please note you need to be enrolled in VA health care to use community care benefits. Livingston Audiologists are certified in-network VA providers and may provide services to those veterans who meet eligibility criteria under the MISSION Act and who have the proper referral. Co-pays may still apply based on your specific VA benefit. To find out if you are eligible under the MISSION Act contact your local VA primary care physician. Frequently asked questions

What is a VA Community Provider?

A VA Community Provider is a healthcare provider or facility outside the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) system that offers medical services to veterans under VA’s Community Care programs.

Why would a veteran seek care from a Community Provider?

Veterans may seek care from a Community Provider if they are unable to access timely or specialized care within the VA system, if they live far from VA facilities, or if they prefer receiving care closer to home.

Can veterans choose their own Community Providers?

In some cases, veterans may have the option to choose their own Community Providers within VA’s network of approved providers. However, there may be limitations based on factors such as provider availability, specialty, and contractual agreements.

Can veterans continue to receive care from their regular Community Providers if they enroll in VA healthcare?

Veterans who enroll in VA healthcare can continue to receive care from their regular Community Providers if the providers are part of VA’s network of approved providers and services are authorized by the VA. Coordination of care between the VA and Community Providers is essential for optimal health outcomes.
