Video Otoscopy
Video Otoscopy is a video tour of your ear canal. Our fiber optic camera enables in-depth visualization of your external ear canal and ear drum which will be displayed on a monitor. You get to see what we see. Earwax and other abnormalities can be easily detected with this state-of-the-art technology.
Pure tone testing
This is commonly known as the “beep test”. For this part of the exam, you will be asked to respond every time you hear a “beep” sound. This test is used to determine how much hearing deficit a patient exhibits at different frequencies. This is the main hearing test that is used to determine the type, degree, and configuration of hearing loss and provides a basis for diagnosis and management.
Speech Testing
Using several different lists of words, we will determine the softest level of speech that you can hear. We will also find out what level of speech is comfortable for you as well as what level of speech is too loud for you. This is done so we can determine your ability to understand speech. “Hearing” and “understanding” speech are two remarkably different things. This part of the exam is used to determine your ability to not only hear speech but to understand it. This allows us the information we need to make sure your hearing aids are tuned for the best speech understanding possible.

Quick SIN is to test a person’s ability to hear speech in a noisy environment. The number one difficulty individuals with hearing loss report is the difficulty of understanding speech in the presence of background noise. This part of the exam provides a clearer understanding of exactly how much difficulty you experience with conversation in background noise. This information will assist our hearing care professionals in choosing appropriate amplification and other assistive technologies that will most benefit your specific hearing needs.
Functional hearing test
With this part of the exam, we can determine your “functional” hearing ability, or your ability to hear conversation at normal conversational volume in the real world with and without amplification. With this information, we can compare your current functional hearing to your best possible outcome with amplification. If you already wear hearing aids, we can also use this measurement to show how your current hearing aids are functioning and if they might need to be adjusted, repaired, or replaced.
Tympanometry
Tympanometry is an examination used to test the condition of the middle ear and the mobility of the eardrum. It can assess eardrum and middle ear function and help detect fluid or infection in the ear.
Earwax Removal
Our earwax removal services specialize in providing gentle and effective solutions for a clear and healthy auditory experience. Our expert hearing care professionals utilize state-of-the-art techniques and equipment to safely remove excess earwax, promoting optimal hearing and ear canal health.

Repairs
All Livingston hearing aids come with a 1- to 2-year manufacturer’s guarantee. Minor repairs to your hearing aids are completed the same day at your local Livingston Hearing Aid Center, although in certain circumstances you may need to leave your hearing aids with us. Repairs that cannot be carried out on the premises will be sent back to the manufacturer and returned to the Center within 7 working days.
